Yeah so brad Wilcox did a zoom call/devo with the mission and if you've heard His grace is sufficient, I basically got to level 2 listening to him.
Here are some of the notes
The Titanic is sinking and we are in the lifeboats (he also shared some stories where the first lifeboats were half empty because people didn't believe that the Titanic was sinking they thought it was a drill but as the Titanic tilted that's when the lifeboats started getting full). And the comparison that he made was that the Titanic was the world. Supposedly the titanic was Unsinkable much like how the world at the time was like "nothing can stop this economy" but then just like the Titanic started sinking, and tilted, the world fell and tilted and he made the comment that there has been greater job loss than the Great Depression. People were looking for answers and help.
Know I didn't know this but apparently in this last general conference president Nelson was totally right about it being a unique General Conference because an additional 50 million viewers watched General Conference. Let that sink in haha
Then he jumped to nephi's last lecture because Nephi is going to die soon and he wanted to tell us how to use the atonement and he begins in chapter 25 of 2nd Nephi and in this sequence of versus, he talks about how we are saved by grace after all we can do, and of course he dove into it and so he expounded and expounded and read a couple versus later in verse 27 he then jumped over to Doctrine and Covenants section 88 verse 33. Then he compared Grace to a scholarship, not a student loan but a scholarship because that's money that we can use in our classes but we can choose to not use that scholarship and just be lazy in our apartments and not go to class.
He also compared it to a bike, and called out another authority apparently back in the day and Apostle explained grace as saving money to buy a bike and Jesus coming in and making up the difference. But he turned it around and told us that Grace is buying the bike but what we do withit is what matters. God wants us to go somewhere with the bike that he got us. he also drove into a whole bunch of different definitions of Grace by the apostles and ultimately brought it's to how Grace is getting to Heaven better. what's the point of Salvation unless there's a transformation? and our life on Earth is meant to produce that transformation or at least get us started. another bold statement that I love is that we're not trying to get to heaven but become heavenly.
So yeah that was the highlight of the week the rest of it was pretty cool we had many lessons and I got more stuff done on the pages but I figured that I could just share that this week because Spirit was super strong and I know everything he said is true. This gospel is absolutely incredible and it's not meant to bring down but to bring up Grace is incredible and it is so incredibly misunderstood. It's a wonderful time to be a missionary I'm able to guide people to these lifeboats because the world is tilted and the word is hastening I don't know what else more to say.
Love you all and hope you have a great week this week!
