Season 2 Episode 13 The New Guy and Sorry It's Short...

This week was pretty sweet! Transfers was the biggest thing so we drove a few hours camped out in moncton, then dropped off Elder scott, and picked up elder Hatch! They swapped places and Elder Scott is a DL in Charlotte town! Other news includes that we are part of a bigger district! There is our companionship, fredricton sisters and one other companionship! So no more small councils! ... for now.
Time is running out sorry, but we found a new guy named Dan! He was the first guy we knocked on and we taught him the restoration right then and there and he felt the spirit and told us that what we were saying is true in short it was amazing.

Dallas Alex Joshua Amanda Brandon Nestor Susan and Doug are doing all great!

I love you all and thank you for your prayers and love! Its sent back ten fold!!

The next one will be longer promise;)

Season 2 Episode 12: Happy Father's Day, I'm a Yanker, Strawberries, Farwell and I Popped a Tire

Yeah quite a week folks.

But exciting but sad news first. Elder scott is getting transferred! Hes going to ne a district leader in Charlotte town PEI! And I'm staying here for a least 4 weeks with Elder Hatch! And I dont know to mich about him other then I think hes from Alberta.

Also happy fathers day! Just to brag a little, my parents coordinated a trek. Plus my dad is super cool and could beat up your dad. But he wouldn't because hes that great of a person.

This week we have been trying to get our bikes on the road so that we can save Ks because our area is so huge. So after a trip to Walmart to get a tube for elder Scott's bike, we headed to the whites to use his air compressor and to see if he had an adapter for the wacky stem the tire had. (You had to twist a little nob to get air into it not like the original stem were you just press the needle thing into it.) So after Elder scott tried to fill it with the wrong adapter we tried to use a different one and he couldnt figure it out. Slow he humbled himself and let me try and I got it to fill with air and I popped it. So we took another trip to Walmart. Got 2 more this time with the correct tube stem. And we got it! (With brother whites help...) but hey we got one bike working! We thought mine was good to go, so we took them ththe next morning, to find  that my tires were not nearly filled up enough. But that didnt stop us from knocking! My legs where about to murder me, but I just pounded some peanut butter and it's fine now. During our knocking, we found a guy named lumius who is just a good guy. It was funny because after getting to know him a little, we asked us if we had any questions for him about Jesus. Now we were a little taken aback because usually people as us questions. So thinking about a question to ask him that would question his faith, I asked him what Jesus did in between his crusifiction and his resurrection (the 3 days) and he thought about it and told us that he was just in a stasis. So we got to teach him that he was actually teaching the spirits in the spirit world! He thought it was neat and we had a few others for him and he had a few for us. He wasn't to open to reading the Book of Mormon, but by the end of the discussion, we asked his name and he said lumius, and that he didn't know were it came from. And we were like hey we help people with genealogy! And hes like no kidding! So we are heading back to help him out with his family history next week!

We also taught Joshua and Amanda again this last week and Joshua is still pumped for July 20th! And Amanda was still a little hesitant but they both came to church and Alex passed the sacrament for the first time! Which was super good, but then he did what some teenagers do and bailed on Sunday school to be with the whites babysitting thier youngest and we were like dude you dont have to be there you should be in Sunday school! And in short we got brother baser to come and encourage him. Classic rebel especially with school out now. But hey what can you do?

Then I'm sorry I know that I said I would do everything I could to not be a yanker, but I shoulder passed a guy in a 25 zone. He was going like 20 and we had plenty of room.  And we were sorta in a hurry. But when we got to our destination (like 2 minutes away) he followed us, and as were getting out, he pulls next to us.

And hes like hey you didn't have to do that, and elder scott comes around and is like hey what's up?! And its JR. A previous investigator that they got super tight with but wasn't keeping commitments. And elder Scott told him that he was getting transferred and he then told me, hey if you hadn't have done that, I couldn't have said by! To which I responded yeah God works in mysterious ways!

Sorry haha.

We also have been getting our faces out there a lot more! We helped the commerce department sell strawberry short cakes by making them! And while onthe topic of strawberry short cakes, an awesome member gave us quite a bit of homemade wipped cream and strawberries so we had some awesome pancakes with that haha.

This whole week has just been good. A few house keeping items to get the work moving more, and a quite a bit of driving because of how spaced out this area is and the need of work in each town. So when the merge happens, hopefully we will get more missionaries here. It needs it!

We also have had some stellar discussions with Nestor and clearing up any doubts he has about "mormons" but he has enjoyed talking with us but he has not been to open to keeping commitments. But he will. Theres so many blessings in store for him if he does.

Susan has been doing super good too! She got a job and is working every day this week so bummer. But she told us that she has been reading!

Brandon is getting married here in a few days now I believe.

Joshua and Amanda. Just doing great.

Alex and Dallas doing well, stacy, less so, shes struggling financially but trusts God will work things out. Our discussion with her was good, because we cant help with things like that. Even though we want to!! But hey she got to vent about her problems and probably wasn't paying attention to anything we told her but hey we were there.

The work is progressing and quickening and I'm glad I can be a part of it! I appreciate your prayers and your love for me and know that is it returned!

The fame of Maine continues for at least 4 more weeks. Thanks for tuning in.

Season 2 Episode 11: Destruction of McDonald's, Uncle Rico, Zone Conference and Previous Elder Dahl 1.0!

Yeah on Wednesday Oliver came home! So does that make me Elder Dahl 1.0? Because I'm now the only Elder Dahl out? Eh maybe.

But also on Wednesday, we saw the demolition of the only McDonald's in presque îsle! And brother stiggle requested the booths so we helped deliver those to his restaurant. And man those were nasty. The bottom parts of booths coated in grease and who knows what else. But that just made my soul that much whiter! Service is so fun! It starts like a tedious task but in the end it's way more worth it! And we did quite a bit! We have been helping out the local libraries, and chamber of commerce places and are getting pretty tight with the staff! So who knows what kind of blessings are in store?

Then the next day was a couple graduation/assembly's for a lot of the members kiddos that we were invited to so we got to support them and Alex and his fam! It was a concert deal and where dressed like us (white shirts and ties) and we probably got mistaken by a few people. It was tempting to just get up there and sing with them, but oh well haha. We also tried to stop by some other members and unfortunately didnt have much luck, but we did find a cool guy named Doug in the process! It was super cool because hes a real shy guy, but his car got stolen the day before, and elder Scott could relate because his truck also got stolen. But he was totally open to having us come back! So we got his contact info and visited him a few days later! And found that some kind of missionary visited him quite a bit and read the bible with him so us coming was probably an answer to his prayer and there is quite a bit more in store for him that just reading scriptures haha.

There was also a "art walk" going on in presque isle and there was a potters wheel demonstration that I got to try out! And man I made a pretty cute little vase! But unfortunately the whole point was to try to make something and then YEET it at a target (dont worry theres a vid) and my tie shirt and slacks got a little rekted haha. But hey along with that, we got our faces out there! And talked to quite a few people and saw some questionable art...

Then when Sunday came around we were a little iffy on who would come to church. Especially when it comes to Alex's family because Joshua works ever other Sunday and Alex plays in a graduation on Sunday at 11 and wasn't to committed to coming to church. Plus Church starts at 10 so... but that didnt stop Amanda from being a champ and bringing Alex! Heck yeah!

Also sometime this week we got a referral from salt lake city. His name is Nestor and he wanted a Book of Mormon. And he lives quite a bit out there but still in our area, so we figured we would try in the morning and see what happens. Then Miracle! We caught Nestor coming home from grocery shopping and had a stellar conversation with him. He knows these are the last days and is looking for a place to raise his kids that isn't full of fake people and hypocrites. And not gonna lie, he looks like uncle Rico, but a little skinnier haha. We meet with him again this last week with the idea of teaching him about the restoration, but instead about what the church has been doing as well as what the prophet has told us. He's got a few things to work on,  but hes already on his way! Hes super fun too!
Then zone conference! We had elder Hamilton come from the 70 and he talked about how to utilize members better and how to use family history effectively.  And I took a lot of notes but I remember feeling the spirit so powerfully when he spoke. He admitted that he had questions about the gospel and the process of various doctrines, but he didnt have doubts! We got to ask him questions and I asked what his favorite scripture is. (I heard that my dad asked that question to a apostle or something like that on his mission so I figured why not.) And he told us Helamen 5:12 which is a scripture I have used many times when teaching. And that scripture is so full of the spirit.
Love you all really and truly and appreciate your prayers. They are answered.

Until next time!

Season 2 Episode 10: The Proper Way to Eat a Pancake and So Many Blessings

This week was fantastic. But we'll start with the beginning

Monday we had a memorial day picnic, which the elders quorum president requested our aid, which wasn't a whole lot we did not gonna lie. And it made me a little discouraged because apparently the town of presque isle is big enough to have a parade which we should have totally participated in. But it would have been tricky because we had our interviews with the mission president, and those cant be moved because president Low is to busy to not be busy haha. He is taking the merge like a champ hes so excited haha I love it.

Then came district meeting and that was a super bummer like 3 times. The district leader had some service aligned for all of us to help move a member, and she lives 1 hour away from us so we get out there, meet the other elders, find the ladies house, then she's not there, goes to another house she had by the river, wasn't there either, cant get a hold of her or anything, so we skipped a few rocks (for like 5 minutes which was super nice I got a throw that got like 8 skips) and then the edmondson elders told us to just head back and get a personal study in then head to our church for district meeting. So by the time we get to caribou (45 minutes of driving back) we get a call from the zone leaders who were joining us for our district meeting that tell us that they forgot thier passports and the meeting will be in Edmondson. Oof. So we start heading there had a super great meeting, then headed back. I ended up counting the hours of driving and it was like 6. But hey at least it wasn't any more then that haha

But here is where it gets kinda funny and epic. I got an impression kit and that was a funny process, but we also went to tobique and taught an old potential that we could never land a date with and we just saw him and taught him. And hes a lot smarter then I previously thought. And he had some awesome questions, but its nothing that the Book of Mormon cant answer! It was honestly just so perfect time wise because each of his sequences of questions where all answered perfectly when pausing between reading versus of alma 40. We ended up leaving him with one of his own questions and told him that the answer is in 2 nephi 2. And he told us he would read it. And we set a return date for Friday. Which fell through but he was intrigued and interested and we will meet with him again! We also visited the family history center and learned that the guy running it isn't a member. Hmm. So any missionaries who have a family history center USE IT!  Not just because they guy running may not be a member, but because it is a fantastic tool! And we have been slacking.

Then the next day. The last day of May. We taught Alex's parents and Joshua's mother (seemed diehard catholic but we'll see what happens ;)) and it went so well!! We ended up asking them that when they come to the knowledge that what we teach is true, will they be baptized with proper authority? And Joshua was for it and Amanda was a little hesitant but told us she would wait until she feels it. But we set a goal with them for July 20th! Then what made it that much better is that they all came to church. There 2nd time being there, the first for Alex's baptism (a fast Sunday) and the 2nd on June 2nd (also fast Sunday) and I could have sworn that Joshua got a little teary eyed and whisper to Amanda that something that person said connects perfectly to the bible...

That's the power of church and the spirit folks!

Time is short, but we also helped a family called the slaughters paint and install a floating floor (shout out to bishop Stafford and his son for helping me learn how to install a floor so that we knew sort of what we were doing)

Love you all! Going to church is so important and should not be neglected. Being lazy wont be a very good excuse at the last day. There is a power given to those who participate and a forgiveness available.

I truly love all you guys and dont be spooked to send me an email! I'll try my best to respond haha until next time!

Oh yeah also the proper way to eat pancakes! Dip your pancake in syrup instead of pouring the syrup directly on your pancake. Plus try it with peanut butter it's so freakn good.
