Season 5 Episode 1: I can't read, bagged milk and great food

What a time. This week has gone so heckn fast I feel like I wrote one of these yesterday.

But yeah as far as the travel plans went, we got to stay the night at the zls apt. With elder atkins and albertson which was so fun. Elder Atkins and I talked probably till like 1 in the morning about Maine and the next few weeks for him and I. Then we got up at 4 to drive to the airport where we were joined by elder Rougeau who was going to Cornwall! So it was pretty fun to see him again haha. The flight was nice way more smooth then the flight to Halifax when I first got here and when we stepped off the plane, it was like, I can't read. Everything was in french! Fortunately there were subtitles in english for a handful of things but I was like yooo people are talking and I can't understand them! I was just getting super pumped. We then left the airport to be greeted by a huge city and massive skyscrapers, like halifax has nothing on this place! So after driving to the apartment, we did some studies and then headed to the mission office! And man that was such a wonderful time. I got to see elder Fife (I replaced him in presque isle) and is one of the aps, as well as elder Brown (hes an office missionary)  and a whole bunch of others that I've never seen before. So it will be pretty radical to get to know all these new missionaries!

Fortunately in the district I know the zone leaders, elder Duncan (who served in holton so I know of him and have seen him a couple times) and elder strong who was in my district at one point while I was in Maine and it's going to be a legit transfer.
Then after dropping off elder lee at the mission office and seeing those homies, we traveled back home for some lunch and a few more studies and planning and then headed back to the mission office to pick up elder scott and tait! And it was a joyous reunion. A member also got us some food which was awesome and we had a last supper with elder scott tait Atkins and a few others and it was quite a time then we headed home with elder scott and tait and they had their exit conference and testimony meeting, elder Calabuig and I worked out some other stuff while elder scott and tait did that, and then elder scott and I talked till proabaly 1 about Maine and other things, got up, and shortly after dropped them off at the airport to head home. And man that was a sad time. I got pretty trunk after that for a bit. But we got home and started working!

The ward is super fantastic we had a sunday devotional so I got to see a handful of members, and a couple days later a correlation meeting with the Wml and I'm so pumped to get to know all these people!
Also elder Calabuig is a great planner and we have a meal plan so we've eaten great these last few days with curries and soups. Its awesome.

Still learning many people's names, but we have a couple people on date for baptism Irish who is a cool motorbike rider, and zondile who I have yet to meet. Hes the kinda guy that in person contact is key and we can't quite do that. Then there are a handful of others we are teaching. And have had a handful of lessons with a couple of them so far, one is Ryan, then there are a couple kiddos from a recent concert that we are teaching, and then a couple others. I haven't gotten there names down yet haha.

But yeah way excited not for any specific reason or anything, mostly the ward and the people to get to know here. Thank you for all your prayers! They are coming in clutch.

Be sure to keep praying and reading your scriptures! I'll try to have more pics next week!

Season 4 Episode 6: Season Finale

Yeah so I guess Bedford/Halifax's popularity wasn't what people wanted. So, the gears are shifting a bit and we figured we should go to a bigger city because people like bigger cities! Right?

That's right folks a 6 episode season, I'm getting transferred to Montreal Quebec. The city I'll be working in is on the west side of the island, in LaSalle! And I've heard such amazing things about this area!

It will be super interesting to, because this will be the first time I've been on a plane since the beginning of my mission, and it's on the other side of heaven, outside the boarders of the ye old Halifax mission. So I'm a little sad about that, but the transfer travel plans are so hype, but that will wait till next week to share those ;).

I am so ridiculously excited to go to Montreal. Where I have no idea if they speak french, Spanish, or english! From what I hear, many are bilingual and speak both English and French, but we'll see! Plus I have also heard that the ward there is one of the best and most fun in the entire mission. But all my wards have been the best. So we shall see haha.

This week as been pretty solid to many member lessons, regular lessons with our people who are progressing nicely, it's just a matter of finding a time where they aren't busy. YSA people tend to be busy haha. But Emmanuel is so so elect. I so wish I could see him progress, but I'm sure I'll see his name on the baptism list in the next few months. We also were able to deliver a handful of copies of the Book of Mormon to some less active folks and a guy named Liam who we have been trying to get in contact with all transfer and finally had  a lesson with him! We dropped of a bible and a book of Mormon for him and hes excited to read them! Hes a martial artist and is super dope. So I'll be sad to see him go as well (in the sense that I can't teach him anymore).
Something rather interesting happened the other day while we were walking though the public gardens in Halifax, was we were contacted by a lamanite. Meaning a fellow with a cloth girded about his loins. I won't share the details, but needless to say, I've never met anyone like this guy before. And apparently hes a member. During our conversation a homeless guy joined the conversion and was just yelling about how false prophets are. And even before that there was another guy that hated on religion. This was all during our walk. It was quite interesting. Pride has in interesting influence on people. Especially when it comes to a humbling situation such as this pandemic, but hey there's proof that the book of Mormon is true.

Anyways, as of now, I've finished packing and got all my bags under the 50 lbs weight limit. It's a miracle, plus the neat invention of vacuum bags (it sucks all the air out of the bag and shrinks it it's really satisfying). But as of today, we'll head to pegues cove one last time, and then off to the zone leaders apt. Because elder Atkins is going home and we'll be on the same flight there! It's going to be a party. So tomorrow morning we'll get up proabaly around 4am and get to our flight at 6:30. Yeet.

I also super pumped because I'll hopefully be serving around president Low! I've never been able to do that so hopefully when all this dies down, president will come to one of the church services in LaSalle! But we shall see. We are decently close to the mission office too so I may see elder Brown!

I'm way excited. Kinda sad that I didnt get to know many people here with covid19 and quarantine but hey, I met and made some homies.

Love you and hope the very best for each of you! Be sure to read your scriptures and pray. It's good for your health.

Season 4 Episode 5: Delivering Stuff and Happy Mother's Day!

This week was ok. Getting kinda sick and tired of not being able to see people face to face and contact. Let alone do some thrift shop browsing. But another week of quarantine has come and gone and we had a pretty ok week!

We delivered a handful of bibles with some fresh new study guides the church produced so that will make return appointments nice! We also gave a book of Mormon to a lady who is in Halifax, but is in the Bridgewater ward! So it will be fun to do a little reactivation work!

Also got to drive again (not too far just picking up a rav4 that got its breaks fixed (rav4s are nice cars) so that was neat! We also drive out to the nova Scotia border and traded cars with the edmundson sisters so having that road trip was pretty nice too. I'm excited for the summer! It's going to be super green!

In other news, we learned that we're are going to receive 160 new/reassigned missionaries! Which will result in 45 new areas!! I believe that that will make our total about 230 missionaries plus senior couples whenever they get to go back out.

I believe that they will start coming in by the beginning of june until we've got them all! It going to be awesome to be a missionary at this time! Helping the others adapt to a different mission culture (because this is a more hard hearted mission) but the flux of missionaries coming in will definitely soften many hearts.

But yeah that's this week in a snap shot. We are sort of teaching, but the lessons fall through almost every time, but it's all good. The district has a great way of building motivation and enthusiasm. It will be a sad day when elder Atkins and Scott leave, but then I can message them so yeet.

Love you all! Be sure with all this quarantine time you get your scripture study every day! Also enjoy the warmer weather, because it snowed twice this last week haha.

Season 4 Episode 4: God's mercy and forgiveness and the power of the Resurrection

this week has been one of the most fun weeks of my mission and unfortunately it's not necessarily for spiritual reasons...

because the zone leaders are the zls for all the maritimes, they got their hands pretty full. So the vehicle coordinator asked elder Madsen and I to help him out! so we proceeded to pick up 5 new 2020 rouges for the mission when we get more missionaries coming here. unfortunately we don't know how many or when they will be coming, but we have .5 million dollars worth of cars in the church parking lot haha.

now if you forgot, i'm a black driver. That basically means that I am not allowed to drive, period. and here's the other thing, elder Albertson, also a black driver (and a zl). nevertheless, God in his infinite mercy hath snatched me from that dark pit, and I got some driving privileges back!!!!! and i got to say, driving is nice. especially when its a brand new 2020 car with the wondrous smell of new car and to top it off, no tiwi.

Nevertheless, I decided, as I had previously decided when i would get to drive again (figuring it would be when i get home) i would be a diligent driver and show forth fruits of repentance. So I did not speed, I used turn signals, and was not a yanker (mostly bc i wasn't driving a truck).

Now just in case you thought i was being apostate, the vehicle coordinator gave me permission and elder albertson. so it's ok. but that also doesn't mean that you can go on telling everyone that i can drive again. just keep it between you and me until i get back ok? haha.

but this week was really eventful too. Along with fixing up cars, and driving them, we also found 3 new people! one is named Emmanuel, who we found calling folks on our area book, and then the other 3 came from a Book of Mormon ad that I put out that received A LOT of h8. like i didn't think that canadians could get this aggressive. and that's saying something. Nonetheless after resolving point after point, some color language was introduced, and a couple people started covering by back, and now we are messaging them haha. and one thing that this thought we was this. THE BOOK OF MORMON IS TRUE. Now here is the reason. i put out a bible and a book of Mormon out at the same time and only 1 of the 2 got hate. only satan would stir hearts to hate, and it was all aimed at the book of mormon (or myself haha) and it was such a cool experience defending the book of Mormon. Fortunately it was rather easy to defend it because ill i had to do was ask if they'd read it, and the obvious answer being no, then i proceeded to ask why criticize something they know nothing about? and then that's where it got a little sketchy and honestly hilarious. Also, fyi, all my comments were very passive so no need to worry about me calling people out or raining fire and brimstone haha. Unfortunately, because of all the speech, all my ads were taken off of the marketplace groups. but we are massaging a couple of honest people. After that experience, it was rather convenient that I read about Amulek's confrontation with zeezrom the day after. so that was rather neat.

In addition to studying that, I was also told about a perspective to study. and it is this. the people of zeniff as a single person. (now a gave a tak on this in my families sacrament service this week, but i wasn't clever enough to type it out so this is a shortened version)

Zeniff is overly zealous to inherit the land of his forefathers. enough so, that he makes the decision without asking God about it. We learn that zeniff was a religious person and God delivered his people many times when the lamanites fought against them. but back to the point, zeniff didnt get Gods thoughts on it and proceeded to inherit the land with his people the lamanite king that gave it to him we learn had an evil plot anyway, but this can represent us is our mortal state leaving Gods presence (zarahelma) from the pre earth life, or even us separating from God by not listening to him, or not seeking his guidance. The story continues with a couple wars which God helps them with! But zeniff doesn't return to Zarahemla.  He stays. And another war happens. God helps them again, but they still stay and dont go back. Eventually zeniff dies and Noah is the new king. Now we know that King Noah was not a great guy and he was a very sinful man. Noah can represent a change in us. A change taking us even further from Gods guidance and direction. And does he return to Zarahemla? Nope. And instead he causes his people to sin. Taking us far off the path God wants us to be on. The story continues. Abinadi comes to try to save the people from destruction by telling them to repent. This can represent our leaders, parents, spouses or friends telling us to be better, or to stop doing something, to start doing something etc. But how does the story go? The people reject Abinadi. But there is a hope! Alma believed Abinadi and left with some of his followers to a land they called Helam. But Helam isn't Zarahemla. God wants his people in Zarahemla. That is where the prophet is.  It's where the church is successful. So taking it into perspective. We have a inner conflict. Part of us rejects the words spoken to us, but part knows it's true. We still dont recognize that we have separated ourselves from God and to make things worse, we get in a form of bondage. The lamanites have overcome the people of Noah and the people of Alma were discovered and also put in bondage.

At this point, it seems there is no hope. We are in many forms of bondage both our side that believes, and our side that rejects. But our side that rejects begins to remember the words of Abinadi (or our parents leaders spouses friends) and beings to repent. And our righteous side beings to learn something about ourselves. And what was the solution? Turning to God in humility and faithfulness, as well as sincere prayer. Both sides do this. And the outcome was the same. They were delivered from bondage and arrive at Zarahemla.

The connections in the record of zeniff to an individual's journey and even the plan of salvation is incredible. I invite you to check this out and make it part of your study.

And along with that, remember to pray and set some time aside to think about God and his son Jesus Christ.
Love you all and hope you have an excellent week!
