Season 5 Episode 5: Treytube vibes, and quality posts

Who knew that helping out a youtube channel would come in clutch?

this next week there are going to be some homemade vids made by yours truly. drop a like, comment and subscribe. in a way that can help spread the good word!

that has been the primary focus on finding here in Montreal as well as the rest of eatern Canada. it's been quite fun, but there are times when the video editor program drives my nerves through the roof or the church wifi is just that bad haha. but all is well and when it's all done it feels really good. and i feel quite successful haha

but yeah! As for our people, Irish is doing so fantastic. we are going to hook him up with handfuls of copies of the books of mormons. and he's handed them out before so it's going to be awesome.
unforuntaly Ryan, one of my favorite people requested time to think. he was the muslim guy with an open mind and the last invitation we extended was to read Alma 42 and have been in off and on coantact-ish he got busy becasue he finally found a job/career after being layed off because of COVID. so i bet a mix of that and realizing that Jesus is the Christ and the Son of God probably caused a lot of self reflection haha.
nonetheless, Micheal and Eteinne are both doing great! we'll probably talk about baptism next lesson because we are able to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ and etienne turns 8 in july! michael is 11 i think... so we think it would be cool to have them get baptized together but we'll see what the spirit feels like!

Webster is good, he's moving to another place in LaSalle so no worries there.
Jay hasn't returned any calls, but he's probably getting his shoulder check out.
Gilles is doing great as well we are going to reintroduce the stop smoking program as soon as he is available!  Since a lot of Montreal is slowly opening up jobs have been becoming a little more available.

but yeah. Happy fathers day as well! Just because it's not fathers day by the time you read it doesn't mean you shouldn't tell your dad you love him. so do that ;). for fathers day we had the privilege of delivering letters to the fathers of the ward (at least some of them)  so it was nice to see some faces even if we couldn't stay long.

In other news some other fun things happened and both were pretty spontaneous. the first is that the zone leaders called and asked if we could teach institute (which was happening in 30 minutes) because the original institute teachers' power went out and he didn't want to cancel, and the zls knowing of my vast knowledge of the gospel asked if i could sub (this was a truly humbling and i was so pumped to) but then the teachers power kicked on and had a good class anyway.
The second was like unto it but was a 15 minute notice from the aps asking if elder noad and i could do a fb live devotional for the mission (the former had something come up and wouldn't be able to). and of course we said yes. and it was a blast! shared some awesome scriptures and how we are thriving with COVID. 10/10 would do again. It's always so fun getting a call from the aps because the past few times it's been transfer news about how we'll be in a trio for a bit, or travel details haha. so this was a little shock haha.

life is lively in the mission (at least sometimes) and i'm loving it!
hope y'all have a great rest of your week! love you all and remember to read your scriptures and pray!

Season 5 Episode 4: reap while the day lasts

This last week was another one of those crazy, awesome, stressful weeks where days are just full and busy and blessings are just raining from heaven.

so here's a rundown of the situation

we are in a trio there is me, elder noad and Elder edstrom (who was with us until his next companion gets to the field (which ended up being yesterday) so tuesday (last pday) we had a stellar lesson because earlier that day we got word that the government is allowing 3 household to meet together which is perfect for baptisms because it can be the missionaries, the person who wants to be baptised, and then the bishop or stake pres. to oversee it so, we told Irish about the news and he was like so what day will it be? and we were like how about saturday? and we were like perfect! so fortunately we had ward council right after our lesson with him and informed the ward council and got that ball rolling. over the course of the next few days we also had many lessons some from greenfield and others from Lasalle, and unfortunately ended up procrastinating the plans for the baptism till thursday and finalized them friday haha. and so many miracles went into it so here are a few.

Irish would need a ride because his sight isn't the best so he doesn't drive a lot and when he does he doesn't like going very far, and the stake president's house was about 30 minutes away so he would need a ride and as we brought up the concern with our wonderful ward mission leader he just volunteered so there's miracle one

The second was that everyone was there on time and situated, including the zoom call. and here's the fun part, (also don't go sharing this either) but with the 3 household limit the plan was to have out elders quorum president watch the baptism via zoom in his car, but he just stayed and watch the whole thing haha. then just before we started the zoom call to allow the ward to watch, the bishop calls and asks us how many peopel are there, i say we have us three, Irish, Vincent (EQ pres) and then president Glowa and his wife. and he says, perfect ill be there in 5 minutes. so here we are a couple minutes later with 5 households haha but pres. Glowa was chill with it and it went so well.

here's the other cool miracle part, and that is with the covid restrictions the church allowed the ordinances of comfimation and ordination to the aaronic priesthood to occur inthe same day, and since we were in a trio, it worked perfectly! i was able to perform the baptism in president Glowa's pool (which during his talk on baptism he referred to as "the waters of Glowa" like the waters of mormon that was legendary) Elder noad was able to perform the confirmation and the elder edstrom was able to perform the oridiantion of the aaronic priesthood. and it was so cool to be able to experience this moment of history. It was also inspiring that everyone who came did because everyone was able to participate in a marvelous way, the bishop had some amazing words to share and the stake president just did everything flawlessly as he conducted and transitioned. then those who watched loved it.

Then the other miracle was that we filled out the entire baptismal form just after.

Then when we went to the mission office to drop off elder Edstrom so he could return to his area, we turned in the form and discovered that Irish was the first baptism in Quebec since covid started! so that was supeer neat. it was super sad seeing elder edstrom go because he's he's super funny and helped the work in lasalle keep moving all while carrying his area of greenfield with him haha. so now its just Elder Noad and i for now!

We also discovered an amazing place called chocolat favoris. some of the best ice cream and chocolate i've had (aside from toblerones)

many other things are happening, im kinda running out of time though, so thank you yall are the best, remember that! also remember to read your scriptures and to pray because it's just the best. much prayer was sent to make sure this baptism happened.

Season 5 Episode 3: ok well transfers part 3 and i have more tubs cleaned that baptisms

yeah so scratch last week honestly, Elder Nelson got to his area on friday in Ottawa, and then to our astonishment, Elder Calabuig got transferred to Halifax and will be companions with elder Albertson! so we got to spend a ripe 2 weeks together before he got booted haha. we were still joined by Elder Edstrom a solid pianist, he's from Oregon and will stay with us until his next companion gets to the mission for his reassignment, so my maybe official companion is Elder Noad! he served in the Philippines for just under a year and then was reassigned here because of covid19. he served in the sighbo and taplogan missions (idk how to spell that so i just spelled it the way it sounds haha) so i'm still living the trio life in a super tiny apartment but we are having a blast haha. we are getting a lot of stuff done there's a lot to do.

In other news, the government is easing restrictions and some say it's a bad move, but we are now able to perform baptisms! so we have a lesson with Rob to get things organized and planned! and then he will get baptized! at that point tubs and baptisms will be the same haha

We are still working with Ryan and still unfortunately many of the others we were teaching still have not messaged us back so we kinda dropped them, but as the virus slows, and restrictions ease, you bet we are going to pick them up right away! we are still going to try to have contact and sustain them until then, but it's kinda rough haha.

We also received a couple referrals, one from Salt Lake and another a mission in the US. and i haven't gotten a referral since Maine so it was pretty legit. unfortunately the one from the mission in the US fell though, but the holy ghost will continue to work on her im sure, and then the other from Salt lake requested a triple combination, and we delivered that and then shortly after, went to a place called chocolats favoris. which had an overload of sugar. they took a vanilla cone, and dunked it in some melted cookies and cream bars and then oooooh man it was so good!

other than that, we keep busy with the projects that we are working on. and there are many. mostly videos that we have been assigned to create. Which will be quite the time, and take a lot of time too haha. The only thing that takes that much time is the lessons that we teach ryan is still doing solid and Irish is just fantastic. Micheal and etienne are also doing well and it keeps getting better. The only thing that I wish I could get more of is sleep haha

We also took some solid pics, so those will be on their way as well! and a couple other things about Quebec or at least Montreal, you can't turn right on red, everyone is a horrible driver, and it's a good time. just when you think you can relax while driving, bam a car tries to cut you off, or pull in front of you, or back out of a parking space. so everyone is kinda on their toes while driving haha

but yeah trio life is heckn legit ánd its a good time being the district leader again. its super fun too because i'm able to help out the zls, social media specialists, stls, and another set of sisters. so nightly calls are a blast. (dont worry nothing apostate happens). so far they've enjoyed the riddles i've told and have stumped them a handful of times haha

Love you all and hope you are doing well! Prayers are always appreciated.  Be sure to read your scriptures and pray!

Season 5 Episode 2: More transfer stuff, it got super hot and listening is hard

What a solid week. Wednesday was not so solid. I felt like a liquid.  it got up to 98 degrees here. and that was not cool.

see i liked nova scotia because it was relatively cool all throughout the week with an occasional light snow. but here in Quebec, something must have seen me step off the plane and was like, hey you know what would be funny? if we made it 98 degrees and super humid. so i proceeded to sweat more than i think ive ever sweat before. it was nasty. Fortunately we dug out an AC unit and installed it and it's been pretty pleasant ever since. So that was an adjustment.

Other than that interesting day, Elder Calabuig and I have been teaching quite the storm. ive been able to get to know a handful of members, and have several lessons with many of the people we are teaching. half unfortunately are not tec savvy nigerians so if we get a hold of them, it's a miracle haha. so when COVID stops they will probably be the moist progression haha.

I've also gotten to know the people we are teaching a little better! There is Ryan, a younger middle aged man who has been searching, joined the faith of his wife but is still open to the idea that more truth is out there. and he is one of our more solid people. we have been reading a lot out of the book of Mormon with him so help him feel the spirit of it and to know of the truths inside it. and it's been pretty good so far. Unfortunately he and another guy we are teaching got some gnarly sunburns so they are recovering for a season haha. The other guy that got sunburned that we are teaching is Gilles but pronounced Jill. It took me a handful of days so get that one straight haha. He's a little more flakey than the rest. and he's been taught for a very long time but just lacks the commitment to change so we are having him read the book of mormon more in hopes that it will change his nature and he'll want to change himself. then there are 2 sons of a recent convert one is 7 and the other 10 and they are a rowdy bunch. during on of out lessons they started hitting each other and it got out of had real quick and because it was a video call, elder Calabuig and i had no idea what to do so we kinda just muted ourselves and turned off our video and waited for it to get sorted out, then we proceeded with our lesson haha. There is also a wonderful man, Irish, and he is just waiting for covid to lift so he can get baptised. He's a motorbiker and he's so solid.

the rest i'll introduce when we actually see/get in contact with them haha.

In other news, transfers is quite unique and as of now we are in a trio and Elder Nelson is with us! he spent 10 weeks in the MTC learning Japanese and was originally called there but Covid happened and he was sent home for a season and got reassigned here! he will only stay with us till the end of this week, and then we will have another Elder with us until the end of the transfer? i'm not sure, but will be in a trio for the foreseeable future so that will be quite legit. its been quite the time already and it's super fun to do this work. not as fun as traditionally missionary work, but it's still quite fun.

We also participated in another MLC and that was super legendary. we got a little chastisement from our wonderful president Low. and there will be quite a few trainsings on planning, goal setting, and the safeguards. so it will be an epic series of district councils, and zone conferences. unfortunately our will be the last week of the transfer haha.

I love it here in LaSalle, such an amazing ward and people to work with. it is kinda weird having people speak to me and i can't understand them, its like the brother of Jared kinda vibe.

i also can't tell if my english has gotten worse i feel like it has haha. anyways, love you all and hope the very best for y'all remember to read your scriptures and to pray! especially for missionary work because a lot has changed, and missionaries need some divine assistance.
