Season 2 Episode 18: A pretty regular but miracle filled week!

I think to start, we had district council in Quebec! So we pretty much got up and left, cleaned the truck a little bit, picked up the sisters in Edmundston (1 hour) and headed to Ramuski.

But on our way the gas light turned on in the middle of nowhere. The light was on for like half an hour. And we where in the depths of French speaking territory. And here is miracle number one. The sister spoke French (sister Tomas from Indiana and fresh out and sister Allen who has been out for almost a year!) So they where able to talk with them and told us the nearest gas station which was quite a bit way still, and miracle number 2, we made it to a gas station. The council was way cool to because we where all with missionaries we had never seen before! The only connection was on new mission call with elder Croft (district leaders companion) with sister Allen. But yeah! It was way fun!! We then drive back to edmundston dropped of the sisters, and then drove back home and by then it was around 4 so that was kinda a oof. But after being in the car for 6 hours we wanted to knock some long strips of roads haha.
Then we have been teaching a lot! Which is kinda different not gonna lie. It's way nice!
So I stead of just telling y'all about the lessons we had let's just say all where great and everyone has made progress!
And here is who we are teaching!
Dan
Brandon
Dale
Joshua
Amanda
Lisa
Caleb
Gordon
Doug
But they are all progressing just some a little faster!

But here is the coolest thing that happens this week.
So we where going to try a church tour and have the bishop join us, so we let Dan and dale know (a few others but they where already busy) and they said they could make it. But (it was at 5:30) 5:30 came around and nothing. We text dan, hes got family over. Darn. We drive over to dale, over slept. Double darn. But we see Caleb on his porch and asked him If he'd want to check it out and it would only be 20 minutes. Hes like sure!
Heck yes!! So he followed us the 1 minute drive to the church and we showed him the gym, had a question about the chapel, showed him the chapel, bishop answered his questions, had one about baptism, showed him the font, and then he had to go, talked with him on the way to his car and told us he'd try to make it to church, but if not their, his expecting gf would be the reason no, but even she would like to come out too! So way miracle!

Then Sunday came around and Joshua and Amanda came!! Double heck yeah. They had a good time and we had a lesson with them that night and watched Joseph Smith Prophet of the restoration. I honestly thought we where going to watch just the classic 20 minute restoration that's neat and not too violent, but hey it worked!! What is cool about the first mentioned is that one, I've never seen it before, and 2 it makes a way bold claim. I'll let you watch it to find out ;)
Then yesterday we helped stacy with her weeds and man did we pull quite a few. We also taught Dan and got him and his wife onto the stop smoking program! They are hyped for it!

Love you all! Which I could include more! But know that this work is real and it's getting faster and you can watch or help!
And in my opinion, helping it pretty darn fun.
Take care love each of you!!!!!

Season 2 Episode 17: softening more hearts and getting in there bear

This week was so great! And here's why!

So previously I'm pretty sure i mentioned Caleb and Dale, but we had an awesome return appointment with both of them and we taught about the Book of Mormon to both of them and they both accepted a copy and told us they would read it!
Caleb is busy with an expecting kiddo so we may not see him for a little, but well see dale pretty soon! (Now this isn't the dale we mow lawns for)
We didnt have a lot of communication with Joshua, so his Baptismal date will be a little later. But we did see Amanda during the fort Fairfield potato blossom parade and we also got our faces out there! Issac, (a super popular youth) got a few snapchats during the parade of us watching it so it opened a lot of opportunities for him to answer questions! It was so dope!

But yeah we have attended many community events! The biggest being the fort Fairfield parade and the thursdays on Sweden of which, we will begin doing a family history or Book of Mormon booth during these events and found that it's free to set up, you just need to do a little paperwork and be there!

The service is always fun too, we got to screw in some loop things for the greenhouse we are helping put up for the micmac farm and helped elder hatch repent (he forgot to put washers on both sides haha) it was pretty fun! We also deboxed chairs to help out as well!

Then there is the service for Gordon we did on Friday we washed his windows and he started asking us questions and we got to know him and we found that he likes history! And you know what that means! Boy do we have a book for you! So we briefly discussed what the book was and told him we would bring it by next time (because we would be back Monday to mow Dale's lawn (it rained))

But when Sunday came, no attendees :( but we did get Dan on date for baptism! For August 24th! Dan is so elect it's not even funny. We're not sure why he didnt come to church, but he likes the idea of getting baptized! So we just need to work with him a lot closer and get him to understand what it is and what he'll have to do but hes on his way!

Then yesterday (monday) we mowed Dale's lawn (getting quicker at it) and after went to Lisa's and had a super short talk with her. In short, she started crying and told us that we changed her life. And told us that she is on the path to change. But its going to take a long time. And we were like yes it will! And we'll help you too! So so so so so so so soooooo good.

We then wanted to drop a Book of Mormon off to Gordon,  but instead we knocked and talked with him for quite a while talking about what questions can be answered in the Book of Mormon. And we told him all, but narrowed it down to a few, like why bad things happen to good people, and that got his attention.  We told him to read 2 nephi 2 and we would swing by soon and he accepted!

This work is so so so good! And I'm glad that I can be a useful tool for the advances in this work! And it's by obedience (a few other things) and prayer.
Thanks so much for your prayers and love know it is returned!
And be sure to keep them up! Everyone is in need of prayers and love!
Until the next time!

Season 2 Episode 16: Softening Hearts

This week was way way way cool! But to start!

Season 2 will have 6 more episodes!! I am staying with elder hatch here in presque îsle for another 6 weeks! But there was quite a bit of movement across this mission it was nuts.

But yeah! This last week we had exchanges with the holton elders (the only other mission in Maine) so it was good to stay in the land of the free and home of the brave for exchanges haha. It was pretty fun! Elder anderberg and I got to talk about elder Scott while driving and man I miss that guy haha hes funny. We had a few lessons set up, but unfortunately we only taught one of them. Bummer. But it was fun nonetheless and we got to knock on so cool people's doors! We also followed up with so many people who wanted to learn more all in one strip of road. Like a few days ago Elder anderberg and Ford knocked there and left stuff and we got to see if they wanted more and man it was like every other house! It was legit! And then when it was elder Ford and I's turn everything fell through. But in the process we found a lady that was interested in learning more and they set up a lesson for the next day! It was so legit! But its a reminder that not all the time spent or the plans set go as you'd like. Sometimes the spirit has other plans haha.

But then we had to jet out of there so we could help out at the chamber of commerce and got there in time to help move some heavy stuff to the lady's car so that was great! We then got to meet with sister Carney (the 4'11" older lady) and had an awesome lesson with her about blessings! (Last week when driving home she was in a car with one of her daughters and hit a moose so that was crazy)

Then the next day (Friday) we finished folding the yellow shirts and got them to the church, then went over to the micmac farm and helped assemble more steel polls for their greenhouse! (Dont worry no blisters this time) then we had a fantastic dinner appointment with the gerhauser family and we invited Joshua Amanda and Alex to help "friendship" them because they just moved here. (See that's serving with your mind!) And it was so good! Afterward we played some basketball with their oldest and Alex, and got them to be pretty good friends (we communicated from Alex to the gerhausers and in short, help their oldest join the fort Fairfield team!) We may have to push Joshua's baptism back a little, but hes still up for it! We have to teach him a few more things.
Then Saturday we weekly planned knocked on some doors and had one guy that was interested, but we tried to meet the next day and it didnt work... but we got his number and well set up a time. We then mowed Dale's lawn again and talked with lisa (the drunk lady who really isn't even drunk that's just the way she acts haha) and set up a time to help her with her weeding and play some basketball with her kiddo!

Then Sunday. Unfortunately  o one we are teaching. But one of the young women brought her boyfriend and the bishop talked with him and he said that he was interested in learning more, but well wait for him to make the first contact. We also went and taught Dan and brought up baptism and at first he was a little iffy because he told us that he was already baptized. (Now I still dont really know how to go about this, but I think we did an alright job) we weren't to bold, but we described the priesthood and how only our church has it and he liked that idea and he loved everything we taught (gospel of Jesus Christ) we then knocked the rest of that road that dan was on and talked to some cool people, but no interest.

Monday came around and the highlights are that we found 2 potential people and taught paul! We brought up baptism with paul and he had the same thoughts as Dan, but we asked if he should get baptized again and we where like yes (this was right after we described the priesthood being restored) and he was like ok! But we fear he may have gotten a little confused and may ask his pastor to baptize him again... but he believes what we are saying is true! So we just need to be a little more simple and bold I guess haha.

Then the 2 potential people we found we set up a time the next day and we had some solid lessons.

The first is Dale (not the guy we mow lawns for) but a older (and retired) hard core motorbiker he had leather jackets and caps with the Harley Davidson logo in every room. Some knives and nunchucks (which spooked elder hatch) but we taught him about the Book of Mormon and gave him one! He said he would read it and check out our church!

Then kaleb when we first met him he called us over and asked us a bunch of questions mostly pertaining to how we get to heaven. And we answered them and then he pulls out his bible and sort of bashed with us? Everything he asked was a question so it really wasn't but in short we got his interest and set up a time for the next day. We was busy because he is expected a kiddo, but he accepted a Book of Mormon! And we got both his and Dale's numbers to set up another time! So we got 2 new people to teach!!

Everything just got great! And its thanks to the power of prayer and the truth of the message we share. (Rhymed *dabs)

Love you all and your prayers they come in handy ;)
Hope you all have an awesome day!

This has been the Fame of Maine season 2. Due to its popularity and success we are pleased to announce it will continue!! This is Elder Dahl 2.0 saying "see you next time"

Season 2 Episode 15:Miracles and Old Hobbies

So to start off, when we left the church after I wrote the last email, we found our truck to have a completely deflated back tire...

But yeet am I right?

So that took the rest of the night to get that sorted out, but then, came the next day of teaching Doug! We taught him the plan of salvation and he really liked that. He had a lot of questions about suicide and if those who do commit it, do they go to heck. Well we had a pleasing message for him! We also worked on a church sheet so we could visit various churches and see if we could help any church hoppers. (Dont worry we havent gone to any yet, we are primarily going to go to their bible studies and share some extra truth to get them thinking. But then comes the of 4th of July!

It started with us helping out at a community event handing out snow cones for free, so in short I'm a pro snow cone maker! We had to get those poppin out like something that Pops things out very fast. And we got on the news!! It was for a little bit, and I haven't seen the footage, but they got us handing out snow cones in our white shirts and ties so that was super fun! We also decided to try knocking on a few doors to share a message about the chosen land, but unfortunately no luck there haha. We did see some pretty awesome fireworks just outside our apartment and man am I glad I could spend the 4th in one of 2 parts in America. We got to see some of the whites before they headed out to Utah.

Then the next day we had district council had an awesome training by the ZLs about developing the faith to find and it was quite a turn out to! The sisters were on exchanges so we got to see the STL and the sisters in our district sisters Newman and Clark, then sisters Powell and Edward's. Then the elders including the ZLs Elders Strong Atkins anderburg Ford Kennedy tait and us! It was super fun! Then we saw a legit trump statue on the way back and had to take a pic or 2. We then saw brother stiggle and had an interesting time with him. Then we did our weekly services for the Micmac farm by putting some steel frames together (dont worry no blisters this time haha) and then mowed Dale's lawn. It was when we were about to do that when the one drunk lady (who couldn't understand why we do service for free) came up to us and told us that she saw us mowing in the rain and told us that our simple act of service made her look at the world differently.

She told us that she has been having many suicidal thoughts, but when she thinks that, she thinks about us and they disappear! And that is literally the best thing that can happen on a mission. Is change someone's mindset on life and choose to keep living because of things like that.

The next day was pretty cool! Not necessarily spiritual, but because of my background on Anime (in short Japanese cartoons. my all time favorite is called erased: the town without me watch it then judge) and we were visiting Dan and some of his kids' friends where there and I talked Anime and games for like 2 hours. Dont worry, elder hatch talked gospel with dan, and the kid i was talking to (his name is Cameron) accepted a Book of Mormon! So that was awesome!!

We so taught Dallas that day to and hes doing so well we compare a lot of the Book of Mormon principles to the video games hes plays. Dont ask how, but it somehow worked haha.

Sunday was a little sad, no attendees that we are working with, Brandon is probably still out of town on his honeymoon, Joshua works every other Sunday, plus alex has baseball now. But what is cool is Aaron's girlfriend has been making Aaron come to church! And shes not a member haha. Then later Sunday we talked with Lumius again and taught him the plan of salvation with his wife outside. This happened by talking about family history first and then segwayed into temple work and baptisms for the dead and temple sealings they thought it was interesting, but they are pretty set. But it was cool so see there hearts soften a little!

Then Monday came around and we finally got to see Alex and Amanda! We went to one of his basketball games and talked with Amanda for an hour or so and shes still doing well!

We also taught sister Burress and may end up teaching her kids! (The father figure isn't a member and sometimes asks questions to her but isn't to fond of the church yet, just because he doesnt really know it or believe in anything) we then talked with Dan again he asked us to help him out in restoring his outdoor paint a course!

Then Nestor we decided we wouldn't meet with him till he reads some of the Book of Mormon and a chapter in the addiction recovery book (he doesnt have any addictions, but the info in the book is way good and describes what the atonement can do!)  So yeah he said he would, but we'll make sure he does ;)

So yeah solid week! We picked up a few more people, Dan's kids and that one lady, well get there names soon too haha.

Love you all! Sorry it's a little late haha until next time!

Season 2 Episode 14: the longer one where I got a blister the size of this mission

Man what a week!! We had some awesome service opportunities and I'll tell you all about each one! Plus we had some solid lessons with Nestor!

Plus a lot of stuff happened this week and a lot of cleaning which makes being here that much better haha

So yeah! Last week we went knocking and we were focusing our talks with helping and providing free service. To my surprise not to many people want free labor, but we did have quite the discussion with a hammered lady about it. And this is how it went.

(We had just offered service and they accepted and would have us now a lawn)

Hello we are looking for service opportunities here in your neighborhood, and we will be back on Saturday to help out those people, *points at the house*

Her: huh ok but why them? They are fully capable plus they have kids to do it

Us, well we offered and they accepted, plus we want to

Her: but that makes no since, why please dont waste there time. Do you know what they do with there animals?

Us, no but we offered--
Her: no dont they (paraphrasing for young readers) do bad things to there animals
Us: oh well that's unfortunate I wish they didnt do that, but we offered!
Her: please no I will pay you not to mow there lawn, like there are people here that need your help more then them like dale in that white house and Gordon over here ask them!
Us: awesome will do thanks so much
Her: *rambles on a little more you know you guys aren't bad

So we stopped by both dale and Gordon and Gordon wasn't home but dale was and he was sceptical and refused so bummer.... or was it??

The next week, we knocked that neighborhood again and that lady wanted to talk to is again! And told us that dale would actually like our help!! We talked a little more and then she was like you guys really aren't that bad. Is that a pamphlet? Here give me that pamphlet.

So we set up a time to mow Dale's lawn (last Saturday) and mowed his lawn in the pouring rain... I posted a video on Facebook so check that out!!
Plus, elder hatch said that he saw that lady watching us mow his lawn so that was pretty solid.

We also started volunteering at a micmac farm! And our first assignment was to hammer in some steel polls for a greenhouse kinda thing and we got to use a sledgehammer!! They asked us if we would like gloves, and we were both like ehh na well be fine. So we sledged in 10 polls and I started to get a blister but I honestly didnt feel it until it popped...

And hence the title a blister the size of this mission. (Get it because our mission merged with Montreal and became the 2nd largest mission (land wise))

Jk its probably the Size of a dime but it still hurt like heck. But it's ok Jesus Christ felt this.

Nestor is also kinda tricky. Hes not keeping commitments to well, but we have gotten super tight with him to. In short we know his story (most of it might be exaggerated) and he went to a divorce court and first told us that things we not in his favor, to find out a little later that it's all in his favor and he just wants to leave Maine.

We unfortunalty couldnt meet with Joshua Amanda or Alex at all. Alex's has started a summer baseball which is on sundays... and then they got pretty sick too. So its like dangggggggggggggggg x3. But things are super great! We have also used our bikes more often so I'll be getting a little more meat on my bones haha.

But Dan! What a man!! Hes is so elect and lost and we have helped him so much! We stopped by to see him and he talked about the message we left him! (So I doodled a chicken and forgot that that was on the back) and wrote that we missed him and would love to meet with him again.and when he started talking about the chicken I was a little confused but then I remembered and I just laughed. And his wife loved it and thought it was different and likes us! We also got to meet his aunt and childhood friend and his family. His childhood friend is blind to talking with him was pretty fun.

We also learned that dan has his own homemade paintball course which he gave us a tour of and it's so sick and legit and I wish I could participate...I might...shhhhhhhhhh.

Anyway love you all and I deeply appreciate your prayers on our behalf.  Know they are returned! Until next time I hope you enjoyed reading!!

Also Brandon got married YEEEEEEEEET
