Season 2 Episode 16: Softening Hearts

This week was way way way cool! But to start!

Season 2 will have 6 more episodes!! I am staying with elder hatch here in presque îsle for another 6 weeks! But there was quite a bit of movement across this mission it was nuts.

But yeah! This last week we had exchanges with the holton elders (the only other mission in Maine) so it was good to stay in the land of the free and home of the brave for exchanges haha. It was pretty fun! Elder anderberg and I got to talk about elder Scott while driving and man I miss that guy haha hes funny. We had a few lessons set up, but unfortunately we only taught one of them. Bummer. But it was fun nonetheless and we got to knock on so cool people's doors! We also followed up with so many people who wanted to learn more all in one strip of road. Like a few days ago Elder anderberg and Ford knocked there and left stuff and we got to see if they wanted more and man it was like every other house! It was legit! And then when it was elder Ford and I's turn everything fell through. But in the process we found a lady that was interested in learning more and they set up a lesson for the next day! It was so legit! But its a reminder that not all the time spent or the plans set go as you'd like. Sometimes the spirit has other plans haha.

But then we had to jet out of there so we could help out at the chamber of commerce and got there in time to help move some heavy stuff to the lady's car so that was great! We then got to meet with sister Carney (the 4'11" older lady) and had an awesome lesson with her about blessings! (Last week when driving home she was in a car with one of her daughters and hit a moose so that was crazy)

Then the next day (Friday) we finished folding the yellow shirts and got them to the church, then went over to the micmac farm and helped assemble more steel polls for their greenhouse! (Dont worry no blisters this time) then we had a fantastic dinner appointment with the gerhauser family and we invited Joshua Amanda and Alex to help "friendship" them because they just moved here. (See that's serving with your mind!) And it was so good! Afterward we played some basketball with their oldest and Alex, and got them to be pretty good friends (we communicated from Alex to the gerhausers and in short, help their oldest join the fort Fairfield team!) We may have to push Joshua's baptism back a little, but hes still up for it! We have to teach him a few more things.
Then Saturday we weekly planned knocked on some doors and had one guy that was interested, but we tried to meet the next day and it didnt work... but we got his number and well set up a time. We then mowed Dale's lawn again and talked with lisa (the drunk lady who really isn't even drunk that's just the way she acts haha) and set up a time to help her with her weeding and play some basketball with her kiddo!

Then Sunday. Unfortunately  o one we are teaching. But one of the young women brought her boyfriend and the bishop talked with him and he said that he was interested in learning more, but well wait for him to make the first contact. We also went and taught Dan and brought up baptism and at first he was a little iffy because he told us that he was already baptized. (Now I still dont really know how to go about this, but I think we did an alright job) we weren't to bold, but we described the priesthood and how only our church has it and he liked that idea and he loved everything we taught (gospel of Jesus Christ) we then knocked the rest of that road that dan was on and talked to some cool people, but no interest.

Monday came around and the highlights are that we found 2 potential people and taught paul! We brought up baptism with paul and he had the same thoughts as Dan, but we asked if he should get baptized again and we where like yes (this was right after we described the priesthood being restored) and he was like ok! But we fear he may have gotten a little confused and may ask his pastor to baptize him again... but he believes what we are saying is true! So we just need to be a little more simple and bold I guess haha.

Then the 2 potential people we found we set up a time the next day and we had some solid lessons.

The first is Dale (not the guy we mow lawns for) but a older (and retired) hard core motorbiker he had leather jackets and caps with the Harley Davidson logo in every room. Some knives and nunchucks (which spooked elder hatch) but we taught him about the Book of Mormon and gave him one! He said he would read it and check out our church!

Then kaleb when we first met him he called us over and asked us a bunch of questions mostly pertaining to how we get to heaven. And we answered them and then he pulls out his bible and sort of bashed with us? Everything he asked was a question so it really wasn't but in short we got his interest and set up a time for the next day. We was busy because he is expected a kiddo, but he accepted a Book of Mormon! And we got both his and Dale's numbers to set up another time! So we got 2 new people to teach!!

Everything just got great! And its thanks to the power of prayer and the truth of the message we share. (Rhymed *dabs)

Love you all and your prayers they come in handy ;)
Hope you all have an awesome day!
