We had just got home from a family reunion on Sunday afternoon thinking that Henry's call may be in the mail. When I was paying bills on the 16th, Henry's name was in the drop down choice for tithing and ward missionaries. We knew it was close to arriving! As soon as we returned Henry went straight to the mailbox!
Upon getting his call from the mailbox, Henry started inviting friends and ward members to come over as he opened his call. Henry has had so many great friends and young men leaders. Bishop Stafford has also been a positive, encouraging mentor and leader in his life. Soon after graduating from High School, Henry decided he needed to fast and pray about when to go on a mission. He wasn't sure whether to leave soon or go to school first. As he was fasting and praying, at church he was talking to Bishop Stafford and Bishop said, "So Henry, when are we going to start working on your mission papers?" In that moment, his fasting and prayer was answered. He knew he needed to begin working on his papers and get ready to go. Within a month or so, everything was completed. Paperwork, dentist, physical, and interviews. His papers where submitted the beginning of August.
With family, friends, and church leaders present, Henry opened his call.
"Dear Elder Dahl:
You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Canada, Halifax Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 24 months.
You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, December 12, 2018. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the English language. Your assignment may be modified according to the needs of the mission president."
The mission call in the freezer made perfect sense.
