Season 3 Episode 8: New people, English reunion, and lots of rain.

Hello all! This week has been awesome! So here are a few of the highlights!

We had our first district council which went so well! No dead time and we all got to share many things! We also discussed the finding wheel and some of the branches and how to do them (this was actually us getting ahead of the game because we had a leadership call on Saturday and that was one of the points that president Low wanted to focus on this transfer was diversified finding, careful vs casual, planning, and a restoration initiative and we as a district had discussed 2 of the 4 already! So heck yeah for being intune with the spirit!

Then later Wednesday we taught English connect again to some people who struggle a little bit more with English it's crazy to learn about what people who try to learn English struggle with and it's the "th" the way we helped them with that is that you have to stick out your tongue a little (for example "the" your tongue goes (or should go) past your teeth) so that was fun helping them with days of the week and telling time! And what made it more fun was the elder Atkins and his comp walked in the door 1/2 through to give the spiritual discussion so we may or may not have talked for like 30 minutes such a great reunion and listening to how the transfer was and how this one is currently going, it's a little spooky. One of the members messaged elder atkins and in effect said that "the area shuffled though the good ones" so that's such a bummer. Maybe I'll get sent back to get things in order again haha. But he did a lot there and the stories he shared where so great! Unfortunately none of the people we worked with progressed very much after I left so thats a bummer, but they did do a lot. Man I love Maine and elder Atkins Haha.

Thursday we met with a bunch of grey dots (people who have stopped having missionary over for what ever reason) and first met Betty who told us to come back Tomorrow because she was busy. (I personally doubted a bit but...)
Friday came around and we visited betty again and here's kinda how the conversation went
Betty: hey so I thought about converting all night, but I just can't join a church that doesn't believe in Jesus Christ or the bible because I know you have your mormon bible...
Us: wait no we do believe in Jesus Christ and the bible and (etc.)
So in short we answered all her questions and she got very interested unfortunately however the flu kicked in and probably won't see her till Wednesday. But if it anything like this 2nd contact she'll think about what we said and have way more questions haha.

We also taught John a couple times and in this last lesson we felt impressed to talk about baptism and found that he would be interested in learning everything about it!

Sunday came around and we had way more people at church thanks to it only raining all day haha

Then monday we taught Johnathan. The sweetest kid I've ever met on my mission. So kind and just awesome. We've been making our own handshake and its legit. He also gave us a hug on our way out. Hes the best.
Also just before we met with Johnathan, we met a Philippino salesman and talked to him about the gospel and accepted a book of Mormon! We also got his number! Unfortunately he lives in Dartmouth, but hey! That's awesome!

Anyways those where the highlights
Hope you enjoyed reading them! Things are great here! Elder Rougeau is doing great! I'm doing great! And hope all reading are doing great as well!
Be sure to read and pray! Because that's great too.

Love y'all!

Season 3 Episode 7: Recovering From Transfers, Cold, and Wind.

So one day at a time, the last Email was on Wednesday last week the day before transfers, so thursday was kinda nuts and heres why!

so Sackville is the closet hub to the airport and now that there are elders here now, we get to host some of the other elders that live a little far away, so we had the Truro and New Glasco elders as well as elder Brown so we had a pretty fun house haha. then we got up at 3 in the morning to take Elder Groneman, newman and craven to the airport, then came home took a power nap, and then had to drop off elder brown and then pick up elder lauder's new companion so we ended transfers at about 3 or 4 it was a little rough haha but everyone got on there flights and everything worked out!

then friday we went to the beacon house and got everything organized in record time so that was sweet!

then both friday and saturday we got some crazy cold weather of negative 4 and a wind chill so like all good elders do when the roads are unsafe, we walked around and knocked on some doors which was super fun. no one really new to teach, but we did end up finding someone who came to the christmas party! so that was neat!

Sunday was good! ours was one of the few that didn't cancel church, but we had only the first hour, nonetheless, it was a great service for one reason, i got to speak hehehe. no just kidding, it was good for more reasons that just that haha. but i knew about an assignment to speak about partaking of the fruit (and I thought that it was going to be a priesthood discussion not a talk haha) but fortunately i glanced at the program and say that i was indeed speaking and the listeners said they enjoyed it! thank you holy ghost for carrying me haha.
so because of the big snow storm on Sunday, we pretty much just shoveled for the following couple hours haha

Monday was great! we taught Jonathan again and he's such a great kid. so far we've just been watching and discussing the book of Mormon videos and he's doing great!

but yeah! lots of good things happening! and the first district council is tomorrow! so here we go!

love you all! hope your days are warmer than mine haha but to make any day warmer, be sure to read your scriptures and pray!

Season 3 Episode 6: The Temple, Transfers, and Relief Society President

Indeed, another transfer come and gone in the blink of an eye. and to fill you in on whats going on, Elder Brown and Elder De Vries are moving out of Dartmouth! (there were sisters and elders there previously) and so that leaves Elder Rougeau and I and the sisters in cole harbor and Dartmouth, plus seeing all of us in the new district are training, its going to be quite a learning experience! so in other words, i've got the call to be a relief society president! (because im a district leader over only sisters haha)

so thats the transfer news for y'all! this week was pretty hectic actually, we taught our first english connect class! and that was a blast! I love how humble these foreign people are and how much they want to learn english, I kinda wish that that same humility and desire to learn could shift to some of the people we are teaching and have them want to learn about the gospel with that same desire, but hey, it was an awesome experience and we'll have another one! (we trade teaching every other week with other elders/sisters in the area)

this week we also dropped Elder De Vries off at the airport, so Elder Brown will be joining us as a trio for a couple days until Thursday when he heads to Newfoundland!

In other news of this last week, church was unfortunately cancelled due to freezing rain so that was kinda a bummer, but we stayed safe and walked that day haha.

Then today being Pday i was able to go to the temple for the first time in a year! and dang do i miss the temple. the second I walked through the doors I was just so happy and there was such a peace! the temple is just so awesome. if you can please go to the temple often. one a year just doesn't cut it honestly.

but the work goes on! good contact with everyone we are teaching and there hasn't been any dull moments yet! thank you for your prayers and diligent support! sorry its a little shorter, but I know that the spirit that I write this email in, will reach you the same way!
Love and miss all of you! remember to read your scriptures and to pray! attending church is also great, and going to the temple is even better!

Season 3 Episode 5: The Work Is Moving...Again!

That's right folks! The teaching pool is growing! Slowly, but growing! We now are teaching 5 people! John, Shannon, Johnathan, Scott, and Dee! All of whom are such wonderful people and am grateful that I could meet them all, and help them grow a testimony of Jesus Christ.

But this last week we had exchanges! So we drove down to Cole harbor to join with our district leader to have a great time! I started with Elder De Vries street contacting and walking a lot haha and that was quite a time, then the next day with Elder Brown we met with brother Moses!!!!! I absolutely love him and am so glad that we could visit with him he's so great. We talked about the area vision and helping members and it was so great. Afterwards we met with a elect less active family so that's sweet!
We then had an exchange review and elder brown and I talked for quite a while about training some challenges and member work and it was a great talk! Elder brown is legit. Plus he's from Idaho. So like legit x2.

I guess new years was also this week and we played cards with the district at the Evan's (they are the ward mission leader in cole harbor) so that was great! We didn't do anything else to special haha.

Then some other cool stuff that happened over the course of yesterday, was we found Dee and elect wonderful lady that doesn't have a denomination but is looking and has been spiritual but hasn't been baptized! And would love to meet with us again! So that is a tremendous blessing.

We also have been texting back and forth with Scott and he's great! so many great questions.

Then there is also yan and Johnathan and Johnathan is a very young guy who loves Jesus, and yan isnt interested in learning herself, but wants her son to meet with us and what was cool is that she said the closing prayer. That had never happened in my experience. So I'm grateful for such a great teaching pool, with such great people.

We also had our district pday today to peggies cove! We caught a sunrise! Sort of haha. So there are some solid pics! There are more, but I can't add them haha

Anyways love you all and wish you all well! And you can be well by reading your scriptures, praying, and going to church! Until next time!
