Season 6 Episode 1.5: wow

Yeah so its 1.5 because technically this is my first full pday in Halifax! I was flying in an airplane last email haha

So yeah, after landing elder Wu and I got picked up by elder fife and edstrom and they dropped us off at the sackville apartment! (We had to quarantine and they had to move an apartment so because of mission rules and government regulations we couldn't help :(. But we ended up getting to bed around 11 local time so the morning was kidna fun haha. But elder Wu and I went on a jog and it was fun to see the familiar roads of sackville. Later elder fif picked me up because we had to get some planning done as well as a lesson with a guy named resa and 2 others Ali and yeganah (I think...) and we put ali and yeganah on fate for baptism for the 24th of October. So welcome to Halifax! Other then those three, there aren't a whole lot of others at the moment, but stay tuned haha.

But yeah as far as planning, there was a lot. We've got zone conference this week so we've got some teachings to put together hahaha.  Plus interviews, and exchanges So lots of planning. Fortunately I have to self isolate for 2 weeks before going anywhere so that worked out. We can still go on runs or drive, but 0 interactions with people haha.

So that's been life as a missionary here in Halifax so far. I also realized I didnt add pictures to last weeks weekly with mount royal so here we go haha

Season 6 Episode 1: Becoming a Zone Leader over the Halifax Mission

Transfer news came out and president Low called and told elder Noad and I that I had a new assignment. I'm going to be a zone leader over the Atlantic provinces! My companion is Elder Fife! We've followed each other on our missions for a while, I traded spots with him in truro/presque isle and then saw him a few times every now and then and we get to serve with each other! I'm so pumped to be his companion and also to be a zone leader and finish my mission where it started. And in the mission I was called! (Not hating on the Montreal mission ;)) im super sad to be leaving LaSalle elder noad and I with the help of the Spirit and the Gospel did a great work there and excellent progress on the Facebook page and pioneering missionary work during this age. But I can take what I've learned and use it to help out the Atlantic page! And it's going to be so awesome because elder Wu and edstrom (both stellar missionaries and I love them so much) will be whitewashing sackville and will be covering truro! So I'll be working closely with them haha.

So yeah theres transfer news. Other then that, our week was pretty solid, lots of traveling back and forth picking up elders and trips to the mission office, mission home, and then back! It's been quite the party. Originally we were going to pick up elder birch (hes my sms replacement ;-;) and then I would fly out to Halifax tuesday just before a hurricane was supposed to hit, but flights got canceled 2 hours before so o got to stay another day and we got to pick up elder comin, hes from Alberta, and we picked him up, took him to the mission office, the to the mission home, he hadn't eaten so we went to a place called Dunns, which had good poutine (according to pres) and he was right it was so always good poutine, though Halifax poutine was better haha. Then pday wasn't really pday, but we did go to mount royle and take some solid pictures of Montreal so I'll add those haha

But yeah everyone was doing pretty well, the page was blossoming and now others can help pioneer the work, with me in the sidelines helping leading and motivating teams to contribute. (Its pretty genius the only original members of the SMS council are elder Noad and sister hawkes the rest are training or in leadership so we'll get the pages bopping now hahaha.

Anyways love you all and stay tuned to the next weekly were you'll learn the amazing people we are working with!

Season 5 Episode 18: An alright week

Yeah so this week was calmer then most. Full of busy stuff with SMS and then the people we are working with being busy, so it gave us more opportunities to finish up other stuff for the Facebook page and for planning for activities with the ward!

I can't remember if I've talked about The Game, but it's a member work focused achievement activity that got a lot of members more motivated to do missionary work (especially the bishop haha) so we are revamping that, and moving it online! So be on the lookout for more awesome content, and better content in general (theres a couple of things that we'll change haha)

But not a lot to report this time around, we had exchanges with the zone leaders, elder Duncan and clifford, and it was a good time! Got to teach a handful of lessons and get more tedious stuff (like car/apt inspections) out of the way. Plus got some solid pictures! And had some good food too haha.

Though this well will be a little more hype because we've got 2 additional mission wide meetings and MLC, so yeah. A little interesting this time around, because the focus points are obedience and humility... someone must not be doing something right me thinks...
But you'll have to read the next weekly so see what got thrown down haha.

Sorry it's a little shorter, but that doesnt change the fact that God is ahead of this work, and knows what's happening world wide. So have hope.
Love you all!
Btw here's some pics from district pday last week haha

Season 5 Episode 17: Well the Peak Keeps Going

Yeah so brad Wilcox did a zoom call/devo with the mission and if you've heard His grace is sufficient, I basically got to level 2 listening to him.

Here are some of the notes

The Titanic is sinking and we are in the lifeboats (he also shared some stories where the first lifeboats were half empty because people didn't believe that the Titanic was sinking they thought it was a drill but as the Titanic tilted that's when the lifeboats started getting full). And the comparison that he made was that the Titanic was the world. Supposedly the titanic was Unsinkable much like how the world at the time was like "nothing can stop this economy" but then just like the Titanic started sinking, and tilted, the world fell and tilted and he made the comment that there has been greater job loss than the Great Depression. People were looking for answers and help.

Know I didn't know this but apparently in this last general conference president Nelson was totally right about it being a unique General Conference because an additional 50 million viewers watched General Conference. Let that sink in haha

Then he jumped to nephi's last lecture because Nephi is going to die soon and he wanted to tell us how to use the atonement and he begins in chapter 25 of 2nd Nephi and in this sequence of versus, he talks about how we are saved by grace after all we can do, and of course he dove into it and so he expounded and expounded and read a couple versus later in verse 27 he then jumped over to Doctrine and Covenants section 88 verse 33. Then he compared Grace to a scholarship, not a student loan but a scholarship because that's money that we can use in our classes but we can choose to not use that scholarship and just be lazy in our apartments and not go to class.

He also compared it to a bike, and called out another authority apparently back in the day and Apostle explained grace as saving money to buy a bike and Jesus coming in and making up the difference. But he turned it around and told us that Grace is buying the bike but what we do withit is what matters. God wants us to go somewhere with the bike that he got us. he also drove into a whole bunch of different definitions of Grace by the apostles and ultimately brought it's to how Grace is getting to Heaven better. what's the point of Salvation unless there's a transformation? and our life on Earth is meant to produce that transformation or at least get us started. another bold statement that I love is that we're not trying to get to heaven but become heavenly.

So yeah that was the highlight of the week the rest of it was pretty cool we had many lessons and I got more stuff done on the pages but I figured that I could just share that this week because Spirit was super strong and I know everything he said is true. This gospel is absolutely incredible and it's not meant to bring down but to bring up Grace is incredible and it is so incredibly misunderstood. It's a wonderful time to be a missionary I'm able to guide people to these lifeboats because the world is tilted and the word is hastening I don't know what else more to say.

Love you all and hope you have a great week this week!

Season 5 Episode 16: Also Best Week of my Mission

Honestly I didn't know it could get better. The spirit from the baptism straight up followed us into this week. We had a misison tour with elder McCune, one of the 70 come via video call and speak with us and it was so incredible. The spirit was super intense and what was said was so needed and so inspired. But this was not a regular mission tour. Usually they are like a zone conference and take pretty much all day with a lunch break. But the day before it started, we got a message from president the evening before saying that it was being changed! So instead of having it all day one day (for each zone), it would be mission wide (including all zones) over 3 days it being 2 hours each morning. And while we had the first meeting, elder McCune was in the meeting room next to the council room of the 70 in salt lake, and was telling us that this is the first mission tour that has ever been done this way (it being over 3 days, mission wide) and all future mission tours would be done like this. It's so cool to see the changes being done to missionary work.

And let me tell ya, this was straight inspired and the format was so much better because he left us Invitations after every session, and we'd have the rest of the day to complete these before the next day! It reminds me of when Jesus visits the nephites and he ministers, leaves them to ponder the things he taught, and then comes back, teaches leaves them to ponder, and then comes again teaches etc. I sincerely believe that this format is inspired. Which is another testimony to me that this church is true. We talked about many things on how to improve the work and work with members, and then there were 2 other meetings that elder Noad and I got to go to, one that was specific to social media specialists where we basically told him we found works in finding online, and that was super fun because he just talked with us for the first 20 minutes haha and he shared a couple things and his interactions with president Nelson and what he said about him strengthened my testimony that President Nelson is a prophet of God. I so want to meet him one day. Then the second meeting we went to (the following day) was specific to district leaders and their comps, and it he got to know us for the first 20 minutes again which was super fun and it was basically a boosting session where we got commended for our service and important role we play as well as a reminding session for things that we need to make sure we keep doing. And the way walked away from that meeting, the spirit instructed me to do a couple of things not mentioned. So I'm excited to conduct these next few district councils!!

Then we had a handful of invitations that we accepted over the course of the 3 days which we worked diligently to fulfill, but even agency has its tricky spots. Nonetheless we were blessed significantly.
And here are a couple highlights:
We are chosen to serve here and now for a reason. We have exclusive assignments and callings.

We are all helping walk each other home.

Knocking is finished. God has been frustrated that missionaries knock when there are better ways to find, its members! So stop knocking. God gave us this pandemic to stop us from knocking. Don't. Go. Back. We are moving forward. Not. Back.

We also had another Nane (north American north east) mission conference and our mission (the good old CMM) was highlighted!! So each sms team in our mission got to introduce ourselves share what we liked about Canada, and then share what we do on our facebook pages and we got to share about the ad that we made that got 62 message conversations in a week. It was such a spiritual experience because the leaders where like, yo do this with your pages too, and other shared things like working with mission leadership, balancing time etc. It was quite an edifying meeting.

Then the other days were planning days and figuring out how and what to integrate into our work we also had an assignment from president Low to do a devotional on Sunday night to share how to use Instagram, so after a couple of other meetings throughout this and last week we came up with 3 principles to improve and find on Instagram, and I can't 100% remember what they all were, email me for the details, but ours was called the steak principle, and it was to be a medium rare, not raw, not well done missionary in our interactions. So don't be fake, share experiences with the spirit, and build relationships with those you talk with and gain that trust then share the gospel (the way its turned out is when you get to know them, they'll ask about you and there ye go)

So that devo was a spirit bomb. Then monday was full of meetings with president, who loved the devo and asked us what we can do to follow up so the devo is remembered and integrated so we counciled on that which was so awesome.

Sorry if I'm saying awesome or spirit filled so much I really dont know how else to describe it haha

But yeah the spirit of God like a fire is burning. The Lord is hastening his work. This is a unique time to serve, past prophets have jealously looked at our day and the events that are happening now! The Lord doesn't un-hasten his work. No scriptures say that. So buckle up! We're in for a ride.

Love you all. Read your scriptures, they'll give you ideas on how to participle in this work.
The spirit is real. And His presence truly can be with us! Especially to all members who are entitled to His companionship.
Again love you all. And hope you felt some impressions come to you, follow them! They are good!!
